Heartbeat House provides comfortable accommodation for the family and carers of patients undergoing cardiac procedures in Melbourne hospitals and was officially opened on March 6, 1994 by Sir Eric Pearce Kt., O.B.E. 

Heartbeat House is centrally located at 7 Hawthorn Road, Caulfield, 3161 and is just 100m south of the intersection with Dandenong Road (Princes Highway).  It is approx. 8km south-east of the City by road and a short 400m walk from the Malvern railway station. The No. 64 (East Brighton) tram from the City passes the door.  The Melway street directory reference is 59 B10. 

Heartbeat House has beds for seven people in four rooms.  There are two bathrooms,  a shared lounge room and a fully equipped kitchen which has a refrigerator, microwave oven, gas stove and utensils.  No food is provided but there are extensive shopping facilities nearby and a wide range of restaurants and takeaways can be found within easy walking distance. 

Heartbeat House costs $20.00 per night with sheets, pillow slips, towels and blankets being supplied. Laundry facilities are available on the premises. 

The spacious garden setting and home-style atmosphere of Heartbeat House is very reassuring to friends and relatives, many of whom find themselves alone in an unfamiliar city at a stressful  time.
