Tips for public transport
  • Try to purchase your ticket before you travel. Many newsagents or corner stores sell Met tickets.
  • If you purchase your ticket at the station you will need $1 & $2 coins. The machines generally don’t accept notes.
  • Always validate your ticket before you get on the train. Validating machines are usually located near the platform or station entrance.
  • When travelling on trams you may purchase a ticket from the machine onboard. Coins only in these machines however. You do not have to validate your ticket for this trip only.
  • When purchasing a ticket from any machine, simply select the type of ticket you require first and put your money in last.

  • Tickets and timetables are also available from the Met shop in Elizabeth Street in the City.
