What is Heartbeat Victoria?
A voluntary organisation made up of both past cardiac
patients and their carers/families who provide support for others who are
going through a similar experience.
What does HBV do?
As a voluntary group, the members provide support for
cardiac patients and their families.
Groups in different parts of Melbourne and Victoria organise
activities and functions, some with a focus on fundraising, to encourage
friendship, social interaction and diminish that feeling of “going it alone”.
From funds raised, HBV provides support for cardiac units
by purchasing equipment required for this specialist area of medical care.
Who can join HBV?
Membership is not exclusive, but is seen to be of benefit
for those who have been through cardiac surgery and the patient’s families.
These people have a better understanding of what the patient is going through
and are therefore able to provide the support that is required during this
difficult time.
